Man arrested for DUI after crash, two people dead

Impaired driving can cause permanent disability and even death to the accident victim. It brings extreme pain and suffering for the surviving family members of the accident victim. Impaired driving, you may call it driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated, is considered a serious offence across the United States and the offenders are punished according to the laws of the state. If a person is caught driving under the influence, the authorities may suspend the driving license of the driver, confiscate the vehicle and impose other strict penalties as well.

In a recent two vehicle fatal collision, a man from Kentucky was arrested and charged with first degree driving under the influence along with failure to wear a seatbelt. The unfortunate accident occurred on Saturday night, just six miles east of Burkesville on KY 90. According to preliminary investigation report of Kentucky State Police, the man from Burkesville was driving a 2000 Ford eastbound on KY 90, while crossing into the oncoming westbound lane, he hit head on a 2012 Nissan. The head-on collision was so powerful that the driver of the Nissan and a passenger, were both declared dead at the scene. The driver of the causing vehicle was taken to the nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Driving under the influence may cause accidents, which may result in severe injuries and even death. Victims may sustain head and neck injuries, spinal cord injury, disfigurement and even wrongful death. Many times, the victim is the single bread-winner for the family.

It is the responsibility of the drivers to ensure safety on the road for the other motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. In cases of accidents involving drunk driving, the victim and their family members are entitled to receive monetary compensation from those who are at fault. The compensation may include future medical expenses, loss of wages, mental suffering due to physical disability, loss of companionship in the case of a wrongful death of the victim and other damages. However, recovery of compensation in an accident case requires detailed proof of the losses undergone and involved. A legal professional may assist doing all these and filing a wrongful death claim.
